Installations

At the beginning of the 21st century, installation remains an important and widespread genre. Installation is an art form that uses the enlargement of environments that are transformed into scenarios. Still, paintings, sculptures and other materials are used together to activate the architectural space. An installation can be multimedia and provoke sensations: tactile, thermal, odoriferous, auditory, visual, among others; In it, the spectator actively participates in the work, that is, he does not behave only as an appreciator. Finally, the term installation was incorporated into the vocabulary of visual arts in the 1960s.

TRANS FORMA SOM by Leila Biscuola

According to the plastic artist, Leila Biscuola, the installation, TRANS FORMA SOM,  emerged from the project presented for the art show, entitled Movement: "The first thought related to movement is that it generates transformation or is it transformation that generates movement? What matters is that since the beginning of time, transformation has to occur evolution and transformation is related to movement", he suggests.

TRANS FORMA SOM was part of the Movimento show in 2002 at the UNICSUL art space, from October 1st to 15th. For Leila, TRANS FORMA SOM brings a holistic view of movement, with the sound of the rainbow and the colors of sound, in multiple directions.

Still, he adds: "In Greek mythology, the god of music, creator of all sounds is Apollo. According to mythology, when Hermes was born, Apollo, the god of beauty, was the most powerful son of Zeus. Mature, reigned as the firstborn , he had riches, loves, everything. Realizing the enormous difference there was between him and his older brother, Hermes, legend has it, he stole Apollo's cattle overnight.

Apollo wakes up angry and surprised, realizes he's been stolen and wants everything back, but Hermes feigns innocence. Then, Apollo goes to complain to Zeus, who demands reparation from Hermes. As it is impossible to retrieve the cattle, Hermes, on his way to his brother's house, finds an empty tortoiseshell and, with some dried sheep guts, makes the first lyre and gives it to Apollo. Apollo accepts Hermes' gift, and from then on music becomes his greatest gift."

Thus, for the sculptor, TRANS FORMA SOM is the transformation through the sound generated by the movement, the action of the form. The invitation remains, that is, to put ourselves in motion to provoke this DIVINE SOUND of transformation.

CONTRASTES by Leila Biscuola

CONTRASTES was part of the exhibition, Considerações, in 2003 at the Casa de Cultura in Penha, São Paulo, from July 1st to 31st. Leila Biscuola considered the sensorial game, the playful character of the spiral, in concentric movements to experiment with contrasts. The center can be transformative in the expression of the kaleidoscope.

Work: Contrastes - PVC tubes and silicone wires forming a spiral curtain and a kaleidoscope in the
middle with the words: action and ration; 300x300x240 cm.

Lemniscus by Leila Biscuola

LEMNISCO was part of the show Change in 2004 at Casa de Cultura da Penha, São Paulo, from July 1st to 31st. The change may be apparent, the result of external modifications: furniture and belongings from material life. However, the transformations that are linked to it, are verified over time, constituting an internal history that, when carried out, is expressed. The works exhibited here reveal this displacement, whether at a spatio-temporal, conceptual or philosophical level.

Our reflections started from the practical necessity, the physical change of address, so difficult in its origin. We gained, however, another vision in this journey, beyond the transfer of place, the search for the true place of oneself and the other, in the world and in life. Finally, Lemniscus, it is an installation, composed of mobile and sculpture. Being the artistic proposal focused on change, mobility, of verbal or gestural meaning; bodies of words and figures, dancing on transparencies.

Exhibition Change - Lemniscus: Mobile in acetate arranged in different sizes and shapes, loose phrases forming the reverse side and in the middle a terracotta sculpture with fused glass (29hx17x12cm).
